Are You Keeping Hydrated?

Hey guys,

Ruchelle here hope you had a kick ass week at training. Now today I just wanted to share with you a few of the reasons why we encourage drinking more water on a daily basis.

Water is often overlooked, but we cannot stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated. Water is the MOST important nutrient in our body for health, growth and development, here are a few reasons why…

  1. Kidney function – Your kidneys need the right amount of water to function correctly if they do not the liver has to stop and help the kidneys function. The issue with this is that the Liver actually helps in burning body fat. So if you don’t have enough water each day the Liver is less efficient in helping burn excess body fat.

  2. Digestive function – Water helps your body digest food and also absorb the nutrients from the food you eat. So if you’re not drinking enough water you will have a harder time digesting foods which may lead to constipation (nobody wants that!).

  3. Appetite suppressant – Most times you feel hungry your body is actually telling you that you’re thirsty! Cool fact huh! So before going for that healthy snack drink a glass of water.

  4. Helps maintain muscle tone – water transports nutrients to the cells in the body promoting growth and repair, so after that tough boot camp session you need to make sure your body is hydrated so you can benefit from the nutrients being transported to them from your post workout meal... mmmm nommmy.

  5. Improves energy – everything in your body relies on water to function, the more hydrated your body is the better you will feel, therefore have more energy!

  6. Increases mental and physical performance – see above.

  7. Lubricates joints – which will assist in protecting you from injuries, less lubricated joints are more susceptible to injury.

Now drink up Fit Fam!
