3 Tips to Beat Sugar Cravings

One of the biggest killers for fat loss is sugar! We have evolved to crave sugar as there’s an abundance of it out there, so avoiding it can be a challenge! But there are some things you can do to avoid the sugar monster!

  1. Eat more clean carbs, these are things like sweet potato & brown rice. These are low Gi carbs, which will give you a sustained energy release. These kinds of ‘clean carbs’ cause smaller insulin spikes than refined sugars, which will avoid a post sugar crash like you would experience after a high sugar meal or snack, meaning it will be a lot easier for you to stay on track!

  2. Avoid skipping meals, skipping lunch or having long gaps between meals can cause you to crave more sugars, your body starts releasing the hunger hormone “Grehlin” after about 4-5hours, this hormone can pretty much take over your will power and push you toward bad foods. Eating regularly can avoid this and make it easier to make better food choices.

  3. Exercise more, regular exercise helps regulate blood sugar levels and insulin, meaning that you’re less likely to crave sugars!

Bonus tip

Drink plenty of water, this will keep you hydrated and your cells operating at their optimum. Our bodies sometimes mistake dehydration for hunger, so stay hydrated!
