Are You Doing What You Know You Should Be Doing?

October 7, 2014

With the amount of information out there these days, it’s pretty fair to say most people know exactly what they should do (or pretty close) to get results.

But for some reason people continue to stay where they are and not ever actually achieve their goals or make any progress.

So why is it that even though we know what to do we don’t do it?

I see this a lot, you can give someone all the information, the best food plan, the best training program and all the tips to get to their goal, but nothing happens.

Here are just some of the reasons why these people (maybe you) may be held back.

Fear — Fear of change, fear of being different, fear of failing, fear of people thinking differently about you. One of the biggest things stopping people from achieving their goals or even starting is fear — it’s also usually the main reason why we procrastinate. The best thing you can do is try and let go of fear, accept that you may stuff up and believe in yourself that if you do slip up that you are willing to try again. No such thing as failure, only opportunities to learn.

Knowledge — I mentioned above that we usually know what to do or where to start, but sometimes this is not the case, my advice here is just to do SOMETHING. When it doesn’t work, ask someone for advice, then try again. Just start somewhere, a few walks a week, some exercises at home, just start it and stay consistent with it.

Limiting beliefs or sabotaging behaviors — A lot of the time we are not even aware of how our beliefs are affecting our actions, behaviors, decisions and results. Sometimes people don’t even know what it is that’s holding them back.

My advice here is maybe try EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or tapping, unblock some of those things from the past holding you back now, chat to an expert about this stuff, it’s important! Especially for the guys who don’t like talking about ‘stuff’.

Not important enough (yet) — for some people it hasn’t become apparent yet, how important it is to be healthy, to exercise and eat well. Not until a close friend or family member becomes ill or they become ill themselves.

Don’t wait for the tap on the shoulder; get serious about it now, and DO WHAT YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD BE DOING!
