Home Core Workout

ABS are at the top of a lot of people’s lists when it comes to getting in shape or starting a new training regime.

Firstly I need to debunk a myth… You can do all the sit ups in the world, but if you’re not eating properly and doing a mix of strength and interval training then it will have next to no effect on your abs being ready for the beach or local swimming hole this coming summer!

So sit ups alone won’t give you visible abs!

However who doesn’t like to work their abs and feel that burn? It makes us all feel good and it certainly wont hurt to train them anyway!

For a lot of people some core strengthening can certainly help with posture as well. Although if you’re doing all your other exercises with good posture (maintaining neutral spine in most exercises) then your abs are being used as they’re designed to anyway.

But some extra strengthening will only benefit you!

So here’s an easy home workout you can do 2-3 times per week.

  • Full sit ups (or as High as you can)

  • Scissor kicks (slow, legs straight, toes pointed)

  • Crunches (lift from chest)

  • Leg raises (maintaining neutral spine)

  • Side taps

  • Legs in-out + crunch

Complete each for 45sec with 15sec rest before next exercise, aim for 2-3 sets without stopping.
